About the image:
This image is another one of my personal favorites. It was taken on the summit of the Avalanche Peak track in Arthur Pass National Park of New Zealand. I got to the summit after about 3 hours of climbing and was surprised to see there were 6 Kea's playing around and looking for food. This image wasn't easy to capture, and I used my telephoto lens to fill the frame with the bird. It's one of those shots you rarely get right and I was very delighted when I finally got it. The Kea is a unique alpine parrot, located only in New Zealand.
